Save Independent Judo Campaign Update
CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Scott McCarthy has shown himself to be a bully, threatening consequences to those in the wider judo community outside of the BJA and now, closer to home, on its own membership and staff. For years the SIJ Campaign has battled with his narrow minded ‘my way or the high way’ approach. Now it is the turn of the BJA membership. His threats, open contempt, and disregard for those who refuse to join his ranks, has caused much unrest in the judo population. I warned that, sooner or later, Mr McCarthy’s tyrannical and single minded approach would cause difficulties within his own ranks. Now his own association is in anarchy.
Recent information we have obtained via freedom of information (but copyright prevents publication ) reveals that Sport England have also battled with him, taking the issues and proposals of the SIJ Campaign to the BJA and seeking judo to have a more united working community. Information obtained also shows there is split thinking on certain issues. Some of those in managerial position involved in dialogue are, it now appears, no longer employed by the BJA. It is Mr McCarthy (and possibly others at the very top of BJA), who are giving evasive, political type answers with their own agenda at heart, that are preventing constructive and open minded dialogue.
We are continuing to pursue matters at ministerial level and, in order to obtain ‘more classified’ communications, we are looking to Sport England’s Internal Review and also the Information Commissioner’s Office. As and when we have further details we will, of course, post on the appropiate Forums.
Wishing all well
